Rose claimed she had photographs to corroborate her claims and added that numerous people witnessed the alleged assault.
While Rose did not pinpoint the exact date of the alleged assault, she acknowledged it occurred more than a decade ago, with many news outlets placing Perry and Rose socialising together and attending the popular Melbourne club Spice Market back in August 2010.
The star said she had initially chosen to make a joke about the alleged incident before she decided to speak out about it, claiming: “After it I threw up on her. I told the story publicly but changed it to be a ‘funny drunk story’ because I didn’t know how else to handle it.”
She went on to allege that she kept it private because of Perry helping her obtain a US visa.
“Later she agreed to help me get my US visa. So I kept it a secret,” Rose continued.
“But I did tell ya’ll she wasn’t a good persona. Instead I got attacked by everyone.
“The psychological manipulation was strong with that one.”
In 2013, Rose starred in the breakout Netflix series Orange is the New Black.
“I was only in my early 20s,” Rose added.
“I’m now 40. It has taken almost two decades to say this publicly. Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes. Thank you for seeing me.”
Rose, who was born in Melbourne, added that she would welcome a lawsuit if Perry took her to court.
Fans highlighted the pair’s frayed history, recalling a 2017 social media storm where Rose was accused of hammering Perry over her song Swish Swish, which was believed to have been written about Taylor Swift.
At the time, Rose wrote online that the song was a “sloppy mess of writing” and that “to go from rebranding as a political activist only to ditch it and go low .. is .. a bummer”.
The Aussie was hounded by trolls online and later backtracked, stating on X that her behaviour: “Clearly comes from being bullied in school and wanting to stick up for the underdogs.
“However I shouldn’t stoop because then the msg is mixed.”
“Ruby and Katy have a complicated backstory, they’ve never really been friends,” a source told The Sun.
“This allegation has come as a massive shock to everyone, though.
“Screenshots of Ruby’s messages are being shared around the music industry now and people don’t know what to think.”
It’s not the first time Perry has faced an allegation of misconduct, with model Josh Kloss claiming in 2018 that Katy had exposed his genitals during a party.
Kloss had appeared in her music video for her 2010 song Teenage Dream before the incident allegedly occurred.

“When I saw her, we hugged … But as I turned to introduce my friend, she pulled my Adidas sweats and underwear out as far as she could to show a couple of her guy friends and the crowd around us, my penis,” he wrote.
“Can you imagine how pathetic and embarrassed I felt?”
That same year, Perry was called out for kissing an American Idol contestant when she was on the judging panel.
Benjamin Glaze said he had never kissed a girl because he had not been in a relationship.
Perry was seen asking him for a kiss on the cheek, but turned her head so he kissed her on the mouth.
When asked by her co-judge Luke Bryan if she had got him, Perry replied: “Yeah I got him.”
Glaze later said that he “did not think” he was sexually harassed by Perry, stating: “I was uncomfortable in a sense of how I have never been kissed before and was not expecting it.
“Would I have done it if she said, ‘Would you kiss me? No, I would have said no,” he added.
“I was uncomfortable immediately. I wanted my first kiss to be special.”
In 2019, TV host Tina Kandelaki also made an allegation against Perry, claiming that she had “touched her inappropriately”.
In 2020, Perry said of the allegations: “I think we live in a world where anyone can say anything.
“I don’t want to say ‘guilty until proven innocent’ but there’s no checks and balances: A headline just flies, right?
“And there’s no investigation of what it is. I don’t want to add to the noise. I want to add to the truth, basically.”
When asked whether the allegations were true, she replied: “I don’t comment on all the things that are said about me because if I chase that dragon, it would be about true and false-ing my whole life. It’s distracting from the real movement.”
The latest allegations come as Perry and her boyfriend, former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, were seen attending the popular Coachella music festival in Indio, California.
The pair were seen getting cosy, with one snap showing the pair from behind walking through the festival grounds hand in hand.
In another picture, the couple is seen sitting and snacking in between sets, with Trudeau eating a cup of fried soba noodles as they both hold onto red plastic cups.
Perry also took a selfie video of the two of them as they danced along to Justin Bieber from in front of the barricade.
The pair’s high-profile relationship was confirmed back in December, after she and Trudeau became “Instagram official”.
