An insider told People magazine: “Her sons were a big part of getting her to rehab. They’ve been clear with her. They just want her to be healthy.”
Another source had told the outlet on Sunday that the Toxic hitmaker made the decision to enter rehab as a way of “moving forward”.
They said: “People close to Britney encouraged her to seek treatment.
“She understands the seriousness of her situation and felt this was the best step moving forward. She’s now seeking treatment.”
Another insider told New York Post column PageSix Spears is determined to put her mental health first, adding: “Everyone just wants Britney to be healthy and in a good place and the fact that this was her decision just proves how dedicated she is to her own recovery and getting herself back on solid ground.”
The source went on to add Spears doesn’t have a set timeframe for her treatment, saying: “She doesn’t know yet [how long she will be there].
“This isn’t for a set 30 or 60-day programme. It will take as long as she needs. She’s not setting a limit on herself.
“She just wants to feel better and get herself into a healthier space.”
Reports have suggested Spears, who is set to appear in court on May 4, has been sober since her arrest and has been making positive changes.
After her arrest, the singer’s team released a statement insisting she would be taking “the right steps” and embracing a “long-overdue change” as well as spending time with her two sons.
The statement read: “Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in a long-overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.
“Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for her well-being.”
