The Twinkie Foundation broadens the help provided for families who have received financial assistance for medical travel.
Effective April 13, 2026, The Twinkie Foundation has been approved to provide mental health coverage for families who have previously utilized The Foundation for medical travel. Over the years, we’ve witnessed the turmoil that a medical illness or condition can have on the family as a whole. We’re fortunate to further assist these families in dealing with any stress or trauma through linking them to local mental health service providers.
Qualifying individuals would include parents, guardians, and siblings in the immediate family. An allowance will be provided per family up to a select dollar value to help those who require additional mental health services over and above those provided by any other source.
The Twinkie Foundation is thankful to have partnered with two local mental health service providers, ML Counselling Services (Meaghan Lambert, MSW, RSW) along with Motus Counselling Service to provide this coverage for families.
The range of mental health services provided is extensive and can help them navigate the following areas:
Individual counselling
Couples counselling
Children and Teen counselling
Trauma and loss
Marital strain
Financial stress
Shift in roles /changing family dynamics
Work/life imbalance
Feelings of isolation
Issues unique to siblings including anxiety, jealousy/resentment, adjustment disorder, feelings of invisibility
We’d like to thank Allison Dalton of Motus Counselling Services and Meaghan Lambert of ML Counselling Services for their guidance in preparing our parameters and coverage for local families.
