Truck on fire on Auckand’s SH16 motorway in Māngere Bridge

A motorist has captured a truck bursting into flames on Auckland’s motorway, with emergency teams rushing to put it out.

Fire teams were alerted to the fire on State Highway 16, between the Walmsley Rd on-ramp and off-ramp in Māngere Bridge, at 8.39am.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman
said the truck was badly damaged in the fire.

“It took a little while [to put out] because it was well involved when we got there,” he said.

A police spokeswoman said one lane and the bus lane were blocked while the fire was being put out and emergency teams waited for the truck to be removed.
