One person has died after a serious crash in Tairāwhiti.

Emergency services went to the scene of a two-vehicle crash in Whāngārā on State Highway 35 at about 6.05pm.

Police confirmed a person was found dead at the crash site.

Three people were taken to hospital, one with serious injuries
and two with moderate injuries, police said.
