Fans are livid after a popular TV star, who recently separated from her husband, was seen kissing her best friend’s ex at a sports match.
Footage shows Summer House star Amanda Batula locking lips with her reality TV co-star, West Wilson, at a Yankees game in New York on Friday.
While two consenting adults enjoying a cheeky pash at a baseball game may not sound like a big deal to you, for the millions of Summer House fans around the world, the seemingly innocent scene is anything but.
You see, Batula, 34, only just confirmed the breakdown of her four-year marriage to the Bravo show’s original castmate Kyle Cooke, after the pair began dating during the first season filmed back in 2016.
Meanwhile Wilson, 31, had previously dated, and infamously broke the heart of, one of Batula’s closest friends, Ciara Miller, also a Summer House castmate.
Wilson had called time on his months-long romance with Miller in December 2023 because he felt unable to commit, with the show’s fans watching the pair navigate living in a house together as Miller recovered from the heartbreak.
To make matters worse, Miller and Wilson had appeared to grow close once again on the most recent season, which is still on air, while also unconditionally supporting Batula as her marriage appeared to crumble.
So when Batula and Wilson confirmed their secret romance in bombshell statement two weeks ago amid ongoing speculation online, fans – and the entire internet – was left reeling.
Many expressed support for Miller, while others were left unable to believe Batula would ever break so-called “girl code” in such a manner.
Which is why the clip of Batula and Wilson locking lips at a sporting event has erupted online.
Many have reacted to the new relationship in shock and dismay.
“I had to see it to believe it,” one commented on the now viral video, shared by the Yes Network on TikTok, that has been viewed almost 2 million times.
“Seeing them actually kiss is insane to me,” agreed another.
As another asked: “What the hell is happening?”
“Remember when we all thought this was to crazy to be real?” mused someone else.
“That kiss was just as awkward as them being together,” claimed one more.
Others who attended the game shared other vantage points of the new couple’s very public outing.
“The camo didn’t work,” said one baseball fan sat near them, noting Batula was wearing a camouflage cap.
In response to her clip, one fan claimed: “I’d be screaming we love Ciara.”
Others used the outing to scoff at Batula’s recent solo statement in which she apologised “to everyone I’ve disappointed and hurt, especially those I know personally”, but stressed she needed to come out of hibernation “for the sake of my mental health” and “try to start living life” once again.
“Damn… she really chose the most public spots to ‘live life with a sense of normalcy’,” raged one.
“I’m disgusted,” added someone else.
There were plenty who defended the pair, pleading with social media users to “leave them alone”.
“If they’re happy, let them live. Could they have gone about it better? Sure. But they seem happy,” shared one more.
Someone else said it was interesting the pair were spotted kissing on the same day Miller appeared on the cover of Glamour Magazine and finally addressed the situation in an exclusive interview.
“It’s one thing to experience hurt behind closed doors,” Miller, 30, said. “To experience it so publicly is like another layer, and then to have to see what you thought was your life still play out in season 10. It’s a major mindf**k.”
Batula and Wilson shared joint statements confirming their budding romance on April 2 amid a wave of social media criticism and speculation.
“It was never our intention to purposely hide anything. Given the complicated relationship dynamics involved and the scrutiny that comes with being on a reality show, we needed a little space to process things privately before speaking on it,” it read.
“We’ve shown up for each other as friends over the years, through all the highs and lows, and what’s developed recently was the last thing either of us expected.”
It came just three months after Batula and Cooke confirmed they were getting divorced.
