A plane has landed safely following an emergency landing at Marlborough Airport.

Fire and Emergency NZ said fire engines from Woodbourne, Renwick and Blenheim were sent to the scene in preparation for the landing.

Marlborough Airport operations and safety manager Steve Holtum said a plane flying from Wellington to Blenheim had activated a standby emergency, which was a precautionary measure to ensure emergency services were nearby and ready to activate.

Shortly before 10am, a Fire and Emergency spokesperson confirmed the plane had landed safely.

Holtum said emergency services, including volunteer firefighters from Blenheim and Renwick, reported promptly to the airport.

“While their services were not required, this exercise showed that our emergency protocols are working and fit for purpose.”
