It’s a cause close to her heart: a keen traveller, the royal studied for a degree in Comparative Literature at Brown University for four years, travelled across the Middle East for six months and worked in Colombia, Argentina and Brazil for over two years in her twenties, teaching English in Rio de Janeiro and producing music events in Buenos Aires. She then worked at a PR, trade and communications agency company specialising in Latin America, and remains a board director of the Playing for Change Foundation, a global music and arts education non-profit. In 2020, she released two Bossa Nova-inspired tracks – titled ‘Out of the Blue’ and ‘Bam Bam’ – under the name Ella Windsor in support of the foundation.
While she tends to shy away from the limelight, Lady Gabriella’s position within The Firm could not be plainer. In December, slipping into Westminster Abbey under the radar, she is believed to have joined her brother and sister-in-law, Lord and Lady Frederick Windsor, at Westminster Abbey for Together at Christmas, showing her support for Kate just as the Princess did for her last year. No doubt, as she continues to move forward following huge tragedy, Lady Gabriella will take solace – both in the meaningful work she has championed this year, and the family to whom she has clearly grown so close in adversity.
