OpenAI and Microsoft announced a revamped partnership agreement that will cap the revenue share payments OpenAI makes to Microsoft and allow OpenAI to work with customers across any cloud provider.
A cap on the total amount OpenAI owes Microsoft in revenue share payments is part of the deal, with those payments set to run through 2030 regardless of how OpenAI’s technology evolves, according to CNBC.
In a blog post, OpenAI described the changes this way: “Today, we are announcing an amended agreement to simplify our partnership and the way we work together, grounded in flexibility, certainty, and a focus on delivering the benefits of AI broadly.”
