Meghan Markle’s former closest confidante has reportedly turned down a lucrative memoir deal worth over $1million (£740,000) despite being offered the chance to reveal all about their dramatic friendship breakdown.

Jessica Mulroney, 45, enjoyed an exceptionally tight bond with the Duchess of Sussex, 44, before their relationship spectacularly imploded in 2020 following her controversial remarks regarding Black Lives Matter.

The stylist’s comments sparked fierce backlash and ultimately resulted in the axing of her television programme “I do, Redo”. The story emerges as Meghan Markle offered her own show on MagicFM radio.

The fashion guru and influencer is now believed to have been presented with a golden opportunity to share her version of events through a tell-all autobiography.

However, she has informed journalists she would “never” expose the details of what transpired between herself and Meghan, despite serving as a bridesmaid at the Royal wedding in May 2018, reports the Mirror.

The mother-of-three, who previously appeared as a style consultant on programmes including Good Morning America, remains cautious about any actions that might appear “petty and bitter” during the continuing rift, according to sources.

One source revealed: “I suspect Jessica is not sure what to do [with what she knows]. Meghan is still pretty powerful and they have a lot of people in common. She is probably biding her time. She lost her career but to come after Meghan could be perceived as being petty and bitter and could potentially alienate her even more.”

Jessica and Meghan became fast friends in Toronto, Canada, when the now-Duchess was filming Suits. According to the Daily Mail, Jessica played a crucial role in keeping Meghan’s relationship with Prince Harry under wraps.

However, their friendship took a hit following a disagreement over the Black Lives Matter movement, despite Jessica having been a bridesmaid at Meghan’s wedding. This fallout has had repercussions on Jessica’s career in recent years.

An insider revealed: “She was upset their friendship ended. Jessica knows where the bodies are buried. Meghan will be worried.”

Despite this, Jessica is expected to steer clear of any scandalous revelations if she proceeds with her book deal. Similarly, there was no mention of Jessica in Harry’s book Spare, which was released in January 2023.

Nevertheless, there is said to be significant interest in Jessica’s perspective within the publishing industry.

“Jessica’s explosive story is the one publishers want to get their hands on. She could command up to a seven-figure dollar sum depending on what she is prepared to say,” a source recently told the Mirror.

Jessica, who hails from Westmount, Canada, was notably absent from the Duchess’s latest project – With Love, Meghan, even though other members of her social circle were involved. The two also do not follow each other on social media.
