A woman who was struck by a car as a pedestrian last week in Kāpiti has died.

Police were called to the incident on Waikanae’s Ngaio Road on Thursday 28 May at about 12.40pm.

The woman was taken to hospital by ambulance in serious condition, they said.

Police had since been notified that she died on Monday morning.

The Serious Crash Unit had examined the scene and enquiries into the crash were ongoing.

Police noted that as the crash itself happened outside the King’s Birthday weekend road deaths period, it would not be counted as part of that number.
