He noted ABC offered a one-year extension last year, rather than the show’s typical three-year renewal. Kimmel said he once targeted an endpoint, stating, “I thought I was done when Biden was president.” He added the network has not yet broached talks and that he aims to exit responsibly if he does. His comments come on the heels of CBS’s decision to cancel Stephen Colbert’s The Late Show after eleven seasons. Producer Erin Irwin said he has long considered leaving.
