The Gist

Taylor Swift shared a childhood home movie with her fans on June 4.

In the clip, she wore an adorable cowgirl outfit, featuring a shirt with cowboy boots, a red hat, and a jean skirt.

The outfit looked familiar to eagle-eyed fans, who clocked that Zendaya had shared a throwback photo of herself wearing what appeared to be the same look six years ago.

Taylor Swift and Zendaya are twinning in adorable throwbacks. On June 4, the “Lover” singer shared an old home video. Fans quickly noticed that she was wearing what appeared to be the exact same outfit that Zendaya had as a child.

Swift is currently promoting her new song from the Toy Story 5 soundtrack, “I Knew It, I Knew You,” which was written for the character Jessie. Evoking Jessie’s iconic cowgirl uniform, the future pop icon wore a T-shirt printed with red bandana-print cowboy boots in the video. She tucked it into a frilly denim skirt and topped it off with a red cowboy hat.

“Writing this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time,” Swift’s wrote in the accompanying. “Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge and also felt like second nature all at once. And being a @toystory kid from the age of 5 til now… is an adventure I plan to be on, to infinity and beyond.”

The outfit looked familiar to some fans online, who were quick to do digging. In the process, they unearthed a throwback photo that Zendaya shared to celebrate her 24th birthday back in 2020. In it, the Euphoria star appeared to wear the same cowgirl-coded look.

“I’m incredibly grateful for all the beautiful birthday wishes I received yesterday, feeling very very special, so thank y’all,” she wrote at the time. “Here’s to 24.”

Swifties may remember that Zendaya appeared in the singer’s “Bad Blood” music video back in 2014. Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss, Hailee Seinfeld, Selena Gomez, and Mariska Hargitay were also part of the ensemble cast, which led them to be nicknamed Swift’s “Squad.”

Appearing on Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast last year, Hargitay recalled working with “boss lady” Swift on the visualizer.

“It was so fun. It’s the best music video,” the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit actress said.

“Being in the squad with all the cool girls and supermodels, it was the most fun ever,” she added.
