iHeartMedia Jacksonville has added longtime company veteran Chumley to the cast of “The Big Show” on “Country 99.1” WQIK, effective immediately. He joins existing hosts John, Megan and Froggy on the weekday morning program, which airs from 5-10am.
The appointment expands the lineup of one of the market’s established morning shows, known for its mix of local news, community information, country artist interviews, contests and listener interaction. The program also serves as the flagship for WQIK’s annual partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through the “Country Cares Radiothon.”
“Adding Chumley to ‘The Big Show’ was a no-brainer,” WQIK Program Director Casey Carter said in the announcement. “He’s an expert on all things Jacksonville, a music and radio lover in general, and an overall great human being. Chumley’s strong rapport with John, Megan and Froggy is going to translate into a can’t-miss show.”
Rick Everett, Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia Jacksonville, said Chumley’s experience and personality will complement the existing team and strengthen the station’s morning offering.
Chumley has been with iHeartMedia since 1998 and brings nearly three decades of radio experience to his expanded role. In addition to joining WQIK mornings, he will continue serving as Program Director and afternoon host at co-owned rocker, “107.3 Planet Radio” WPLA-FM in Jacksonville, host afternoons on rock WJRR in Orlando (101.1) and remain an on-air personality on iHeart Classic Rock.
