Passengers are being warned of possible “flow-on disruptions” after a fire broke out in a terminal at Wellington Airport last night.
In a statement just before midnight yesterday, Wellington Airport said the fire had been put out after flights were temporarily diverted. They said international flights were due to arrive on time.
There were no reports of injuries.
The airport’s southwest pier and main terminal building were evacuated at around 7.15pm last night after the fire set off smoke alarms.

Multiple crews from FENZ and the Airport Fire Service responded to the fire.
“FENZ will be investigating the cause of the fire.”
The airport said it will be “open as usual” today, but warned, “there may be some flow-on disruptions to flights so passengers are advised to check directly with their airlines”.
