Emily Ratajkowski‘s candid words are drawing some criticism from fans.

Earlier in the week, the model, 35, published a raw essay for The Cut about her romantic life before and after she and Sebastian Bear-McClard split, and about finding herself as a single mother to their son, Sylvester “Sly” Apollo Bear, 5.

In a clip posted on the outlet’s Instagram on Monday, June 15, the actress did a voiceover of an excerpt from her essay.

“In the years leading up to becoming a mother, I came to resent deeply the naïveté and inequality that being a good girl left me with — the way every man I liked had slept with more women than I had men, the dissonance I experienced when they talked about a girl they’d [explicit] ‘casually’ and were now friends with,” she said. “There are girls who are capable of that? I wondered. I couldn’t relate, but I wanted to.”

Fans took to the comment section, seemingly unable to relate to Ratajkowski.

“Hahahaha imagine reading this utter [explicit] and thinking it’s really profound 😂,” one person wrote.

“What an insane amount of delusion it takes to think that this is the way to go through life 😂😂,” a second commented.

“Why does she think this is interesting?” a third questioned.

“Girl, from a single mother to another one, get therapy,” a fourth stated.

Elsewhere in the essay, Ratajkowski recalled the breakdown of her relationship with Bear-McClard, with whom she was married from 2018 to 2022.

“It was a violent transition into a new reality of screaming baby on my aching tit and ring on my swollen finger. And then, in a time period that felt both instant and excruciatingly slow, my marriage collapsed,” she penned. “Six months after my son was born, my husband and I stopped having sex. Less than a year later, we separated.”

Ratajkowski also detailed her post-divorce dating escapades writing: “I wish I could say I’d started to date slowly — that there was some period of grief or reflection as a newly single person, a healthy pause before my mania — but the truth is just a week after my split, I found myself in Brooklyn, a shell-shocked and sleepless version of myself, wearing what seemed to me like the kind of outfit a girl who goes on dates wears, a crop top and black pants that all of my friends had approved via a mirror selfie, sitting across from a DJ. Of course a DJ. Always a DJ.”
