“We were deeply saddened this weekend to lose one of our stable stars and all-time favourites, My Oberon, who passed away suddenly after a short illness,” the Archibald stable posted on X.
“He was a wonderful horse for us and his owners, and he took us all on an amazing journey.
“From winning the Group 2 Crystal Mile, running 2nd behind Mr Brightside in the Doncaster, placing in last year’s King Charles and a trip to Hong Kong, he was a very special horse to everyone involved with him.”

My Oberon, a nine-year-old gelding, had 36 starts and chalked up just short of $4 million in prizemoney throughout his career.
The son of Dubawi had been preparing for a return this spring with a trial last month before being struck down with illness.
