Aussie musician Dom Dolla – real name Dominic Matheson – has appeared on a podcast for the first time, revealing his struggle with mental health.
The world-renowned DJ, 34, is known for avoiding press or interviews, sharing news of his sit-down chat with fellow DJ Tiga and music journalist Tia Ho in a post shared with his 1.5 million Instagram followers.

In the post, Matheson included a short clip from the chat, revealing his battle with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and prompting an outcry of support from fans in the comments section.
In the full interview, shared to Matheson’s YouTube page, he and Tiga discussed their different creative styles and how their mental health affects the way they work, Tiga detailing his ADHD and Matheson revealing his OCD.
“I have OCD and I’ve suffered with it for years. It’s not like I’m clean and tidy. It’s like, it can be pretty debilitating,” he said.
“And I cannot handle doubt. And I think one of the reasons that I am such a perfectionist in the studio is because it’s the ‘what if’ question of like … ‘what if I don’t give this record the best chance that it possibly can’. You know, there are all sorts of crazy manifestations of OCD.”
While many associate OCD with cleanliness, according to the Mayo Clinic, it’s actually a chronic mental health disorder that causes a pattern of unwanted thoughts and fears, that lead to repetitive behaviours, getting in the way of daily activities and causing distress.
Back on Instagram, Matheson commented on his own post, addressing his mental health struggle and offering support to others going through something similar.
“Was great to sit down and chat all things life and music with tiga and tia… in particular how mental health affects output and creativity,” he wrote.
“I was diagnosed with OCD about 12 years ago. It has many life altering manifestations, none of them pleasant (IYKYK).
“If you’re suffering, help is out there ❤️“.

Matheson is an Aussie export from Melbourne who has gone on to become one of the biggest names in electronic music around the world, with 1.5 billion global streams.
He recently made history as the first electronic act to headline a solo stadium show in Australia, playing to over 40,000 fans at Sydney’s Allianz Stadium in December 2025.
He’s since announced his homecoming show at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium in September, marking his second Aussie stadium show. All 60,000 tickets have already sold out.
