Matt Thacker, who has been a sports coach for more than 20 years, said the use of fitness apps had gained immense popularity since covid.

“Apps work for some people because they get a sense of fulfilment from completing different challenges and activities,” he says.

“However, we need to remember everyone has different goals and may require personalised and varied exercise routines, no two bodies are alike.”

Thacker, who lives in Kent, said people were motivated in different ways.

“Since WeRoam has a rewards system, I think it could encourage users to be more proactive in exercising,” he said.

“However, some people prefer having someone present to inspire and guide them because they find that interaction beneficial.”

WeRoam is a joint project by KCC and Active AI Ltd.
