Imagine you simultaneously hate flying and love your wife so much that you’re willing to spend eight days on a boat just to be with her on her birthday. Because that is where we find Benny Blanco — somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic, en route to Europe like Rose DeWitt Bukater, to see his wife, Selena Gomez.
On Thursday, Blanco posted a TikTok video of himself on the deck of a ship, writing, “POV ur traveling across the atlantic in the titanic to see ur wife because ur scared of flying.” He added in the caption, “The things we do for love.” Gomez, who turns 34 on July 22, is in London filming season six of Only Murders in the Building.
The couple previously explained on Jay Shetty’s podcast that Blanco simply “does not fly” because it is a real fear of his. In order to get to Europe, Blanco said, “first you have to drive to New York and then you get on a boat for eight days and you’re on the Titanic.” Blanco documented taking his first flight in eight years in a TikTok, explaining, “The last time I went to Europe, I took a boat with Ed Sheeran and we made the Divide album.”
Whether by air or by sea, we’re just glad that, unlike the Titanic, all of Blanco’s journeys across the ocean have so far been undramatic.
