Stress does not always begin with an emergency. It can also build up in everyday routines, extend over long periods and become part of daily life. That is the starting point of Finding Wellness through Stressful Times, an interactive workshop that will take place Saturday, July 25, at The Field Library. The program, which will begin at 1 p.m., will be led by Dr. Marianne Messina, a chiropractor and wellness practitioner.

Dr. Marianne Messina (Cortlandt Wellness website)

The workshop is designed to address the relationship between stress and healthy practices through three areas: a personal assessment of wellness, the physiology of stress and lifestyle parameters that can be used to redirect the effects of chronic stress.

The activity is part of the library’s calendar and will take place at 4 Nelson Ave. Registration is required through the link. The activity is interactive and will focus on personal wellness and processes related to stress. During the workshop, the specialist will examine the implications of this strain when it persists over an extended period.

The event will last approximately one hour. The first step offered by the program is a review of individual wellness. Participants will then examine stress and how it affects the functioning of the body. Finally, Dr. Messina will discuss habits that can help redirect its effects and the importance of sleep, nutrition and physical activity.

Messina is a holistic chiropractor with more than 25 years of professional experience. According to information published by Cortlandt Wellness, her practice has included working with people of different ages and with acute and chronic conditions. Her approach combines chiropractic and craniosacral care with a focus on holistic wellness.

On the day of the event, those attending Finding Wellness through Stressful Times, which is also supported by NewYork-Presbyterian, should go to the Program Room at The Field Library. The event will be free. For more information or details about the program, call 914-737-1212.
