Mate XT 2 triple-foldable will debut as a prominent rival against the iPhone Ultra – Apple’s first folding device and Huawei is currently focusing on making its third-generation tri-fold more durable with new technological solutions.
A Weibo tipster suggested that Huawei is significantly making the Mate XT 2 more durable than the previous-gen model. The company will probably implement optimized hinge technology and cutting-edge screen panels in the upcoming tri-fold.
Foldable handsets are often considered more fragile than regular phones. This is because they contain dual hinges and soft plastic-made inner screens that can be easily scratched and trap dust in the hinge compartment, ruining the display from underneath.
Being a triple-folding screen device, tri-folds are considered even weaker and less durable. Hence, Huawei is seeking materials that can boost the durability of its upcoming creation.
The first-generation Huawei triple-foldable survived the dirt torture efficiently but failed in display durability. The company worked on that segment with the s-tagged model and enhanced UTG (Ultra-Thin Glass) screen technology that offers 30% impact resistance.
Now the Chinese tech giant is up with a new-generation triple foldable phone, which is expected to bring more durability compared to its predecessors.

The tipster didn’t disclose which component could increase the durability of the Mate XT 2. But some early inputs suggested that Huawei is taking useful measures to make its new device more firm and secure against risk factors.
For instance, the company is using a U-shaped form factor instead of a Z-like appearance. This approach will shield the central panel from the side ones, ensuring that none of the display panels face impacts directly while falling or in wear-and-tear situations.
Other details regarding the durability of the Mate XT 2 will soon follow up. In the meantime, you can check the price details of the new-generation tri-fold.
