A Taylor Sheridan favorite, who will soon return in the long-awaited third season of the franchise frontman’s spy series Lioness, takes the lead in an original action thriller that smashes together the genre classics Ramboand Taken to create an all-new explosive war epic. Set amid the real-life Russia invasion of Ukraine, the action thriller has now set a new release that’ll allow audiences to bask in what has been hailed as “one of the best action movies of the year.”
Man of War stars LaMonica Garrett as an elite American Special Forces veteran. Against the backdrop of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the mission becomes deeply personal when his adopted daughter, an aid worker, is held hostage by Russian mercenaries. Forced to navigate a brutal landscape of fire and betrayal, he must risk everything on this high-stakes hostage rescue.
Garrett has emerged as a premier force in the action landscape, and is widely recognized for his breakout performance as Thomas in the Yellowstone prequel 1883. Garrett continues to be a staple of the Taylor Sheridan universe, and currently stars as Tucker in the Paramount+ espionage hit Special Ops: Lioness. Alongside his work in the Sheridan-Verse, Garrett is also known for his fan-favorite role as Commander Bill Cox in the Prime Video prequel series The Terminal List alongside Taylor Kitsch and Chris Pratt.
Most recently, Garrett has cemented his status as a leading action star through his collaboration with acclaimed Man of War director William Kaufman, starring in the sci-fi action epic Osiris alongside Terminator icon Linda Hamilton. But Man of War gives Garrett a real chance to dominate the spotlight, with the actor delivering an action hero to root for as fights his way across a warzone.
Man of War is now available to stream on digital platforms such as Prime Video and Apple TV and is now confirmed for release on Blu-ray and DVD on Sept. 8, 2026, from Well Go USA Entertainment.
