Emma Finucane got the job done to progress through to the women’s keirin second round in a bid for her fourth gold medal of the games but it wasn’t all good news for Wales’ women.

Team-mate Rhian Edmunds misjudged the gap and went down and more misfortune followed as Scotland’s Lauren Bell couldn’t evade the falling bike to crash out too.

Both got back on their feet but Bell looked in some pain clutching her collarbone and Edmunds required assistance to walk off the track.

They are scheduled to compete again in the repechage this afternoon but it doesn’t look likely they are going to make it from those scenes.
