Men across Monaghan who are struggling with their mental health have been encouraged to reach out and avail of the supports available to them at the Teach na Daoine Family Resource Centre.
The Teach na Daoine Family Resource Centre in Monaghan will receive €40,000 to deliver the new ‘Men Connect’ programme, helping to expand access to counselling and mental health supports for men in Cavan-Monaghan.
Packie Kelly of the Teach na Daoine Family Resource Centre said men are hearing the message more often that support is available to them, however barriers still exist when it comes to making the next step and talking to a professional.
Packie believes the new ‘Men Connect’ programme will break this barrier and make it easier for men to come forward and seek help.
The new programme will provide wraparound supports through dedicated outreach, mental health promotion and counselling services delivered through Family Resource Centres.
Teach na Daoine Family Resource Centre in Monaghan is one of just three centres nationwide selected for the pilot programme and will receive €40,000 this year, rising to €80,000 in a full year.
