Since revealing this week that the free-to-air and pay TV aspect of the championship’s broadcast would cease, leaving only livestreams, little was known about the level of production moving forwards.
AASA Race Series has confirmed that the majority of the series’ on-air talent will remain in place, with some new additions and two significant names missing.
Former Supercars full-timer Scott Pye had joined the coverage this year as a pit reporter and expert commentator for the Australian Formula Ford Championship, but will not be present for Round 4, unavailable for the round with a scheduling conflict.
Pye will instead be in Latvia, on hand with Red Bull for the final stop of a promotional tour.
Also absent is regular host and lead commentator Matt Cavanagh, a long-time staple of the series’ broadcasts.
Speedcafe understands that Cavanagh will only be absent for Queensland Raceway, with the track retaining promotion aspects of Fight in the Night in conjunction with AASA, choosing to utilise local on-air talent.
Clarification has been sought regarding the long-term future of Pye and Cavanagh on AASA Race Series broadcasts.
Matt Naulty continues his role as the voice of the TA2 Muscle Car Series, joined by reigning champion Jarrod Hughes.
Regular AASA commentator Dan McCarthy remains at the head of the support categories.
Former Supercars racer Melinda Price remains as the lead pit lane reporter, while also joining McCarthy in the commentary box.
Guest commentators and pit reporters include Jai Eccles and Matt Totani for Legend Cars Australia, and Trans Am racer Edan Thornburrow in his debut appearance on the coverage.
Australian Endurance Championship competitor Luke King will also make guest appearances, with Rhianna Buchanan rounding out the line-up.
Following the mid-season departure of Formula RX8 from AASA sanction, the track schedule for Fight in the Night is still to be confirmed, with a revision expected early next week.
The broadcast schedule has been confirmed, with the livestreams available both on the AASA Race Series website and YouTube Channel.
Round 4 of the AASA Race Series will be held at Queensland Raceway on August 14-16.
