Emmerdale star Danny Miller has appeared to confirm that his co-star Lawrence Robb will be off-screen until 2027 as the actor gears up to appear on Strictly.

Robb, who plays Mackenzie Boyd in the ITV soap, was revealed to have joined this year’s line-up of the hit dancing show on Thursday (6 August).

Following the announcement, Miller – who plays Aaron Dingle on the soap – took to Instagram to congratulate his co-star, appearing to confirm that Robb will be temporarily leaving the soap.

Sharing a photo of Robb’s Strictly promo shot, Miller wrote: “Can’t wait for one of my best pals to take to the dance floor @bbcstrictly whilst I’m gutted we won’t have our lodger and ‘manny’ or anyone to do gymnastic drop offs, cook the tea or bedtime books until 2027 we wish you all the best. We will be supporting every week! We [love] you @lawrencejarobb. The Miller Family.”

ITV declined to comment on this story, but Radio Times understands that Robb will be taking a break from the soap to take part in Strictly.

Robb is the 12th celebrity to join this year’s star-studded Strictly line-up.

He joins the previously announced Lacey Turner, Dani Dyer, Delta Goodrem, Chris Appleton, Cach Mercer, Will Best, Dame Sarah Storey, Jaime Winstone, Bethany Antonia, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Graeme Hall.

In a statement upon the announcement, Robb said: “I don’t know who’s more excited about this, me or my mother. I can’t quite believe that I am going to be getting my dancing shoes on this September on one of my favourite shows of all time!

“It’s a dream come true, and I can’t wait to bring my all to ballroom. Wish me luck, and any advice is very welcome – trust me I’ll need it!”
