The Bulldogs have stunned the Sharks to claim their first win since Round 2 and throw a spanner into the NRLW finals race.
Cronulla had a chance to take a big step towards a home semi-final with a victory, however they were out-enthused by a desperate and energetic Canterbury side.
The Bulldogs were physical and gritty throughout the first half before a five-minute burst after the break blew the game wide open.
Elizabeth MacGregor and Shannon Muru crossed before Cronulla had even touched the ball to open up an 18-4 lead.
The Sharks fought back but Tayla Preston sealed the 24-14 win midway through the second period when she darted from dummy-half to score against her former team.
Saturday’s first game saw North Queensland produce a second-half blitz to secure a record-breaking 42-14 victory over the Dragons.

Dragons v Cowboys – Round 10, 2025
It was both the Cowboys’ biggest winning margin and their highest points total, and secured the club’s first NRLW finals berth.
The two results saw North Queensland climb to third on the ladder on 14 points, with Cronulla dropping to fourth on 12 points. Newcastle can leapfrog the Sharks with a 23-point win over the sixth-placed Titans on Sunday afternoon.

Half-time: That is half-time in a gritty, hard-fought contest at Accor Stadium. The Bulldogs hold a four-point lead after 35 minutes of relentless defence that put the Sharks under plenty of pressure. 34th minute: Canterbury continued to build pressure before the Sharks conceded a penalty straight in front. The Bulldogs looked not far away from breaking through but have instead opting to take the two and extend the lead to four on the stroke of half-time. Bulldogs 8 – Sharks 4.
31st minute: We have a Bulldogs Captain’s Challenge. The referee awarded Cronulla a penalty for contact in the air in a contest for a Tayla Preston bomb. Cassie Staples leapt for the ball, with Moana Courtenay running through to contest for it. Staples dropped the ball amid Courtenay’s pressure. Southwell’s return sees Trinity Tauaneai shift to the bench, with Ahlivia Ingram the other new face on the interchange.
