Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) has made a huge discovery in Emmerdale, that could threaten his fresh start with ex-wife Dawn (Olivia Bromley).

A number of weeks ago, Dawn’s fiancé Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) discovered that she’d shared a brief kiss with Billy, but ultimately declined to accept that she would be unfaithful so close to their wedding day.

Hours later, Billy was brutally attacked and left with a bleed on the brain. With him placed in a medically induced coma, Caleb Milligan (William Ash) reckoned that Joe’s discovery was a motive for committing the crime and had a quiet word with the investigating officer, which led to his arrest.

Ultimately, there was no evidence to support the case and Joe was released. Billy has remained adamant that he was his attacker, and has since devised a plan to move to Spain with Dawn and their kids.

Since then, Caleb has learnt the truth – but has chosen to keep it under his hat. CCTV footage showed Kev Barton (Chris Coghill) smacking him with a crowbar, fearing that he’d just rumbled associate Steve Sykes’s (Jason Done) robbery of the depot.

In a bid to destroy Joe’s life, Caleb and wife Ruby (Beth Cordingly) have been helping Billy and Dawn organise fake passports for their new life.

In today’s episode, Joe sprung a surprise sten-do on his wife-to-be. She was unsure whether he’d done this purposely, to halt their plans to leave while he was away.

He clearly doesn’t know about their escape, but as far as Dawn and Billy know, the whole event has been organised to delay them from leaving. Joe then invited all of the sten-do attendees to join him for food and drinks at The Hide, where Billy knocked back several bottles of beer.

Kev was also there, and drunkenly stumbled over to admit that he was the one who assaulted him last month.

This left Billy with quite the predicament. Does he share this information with Dawn, causing her to reconsider everything she knows about Joe and consider a life with him, or keep it quiet so that they can exit together?

What will Billy do?
