The Rabbitohs have a major battle on their hands to keep Jye Gray amid reports the rebel rugby union competition R360 have offered the livewire fullback $2.4 million.
The R360 offer is double what Gray is currently on at South Sydney. The 21-year-old is one of several NRL stars the breakaway league have in their sights with Eels star Zac Lomax and Storm fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen also on their radar.
It was reported this week that the R360 competition has been given the green light to kick off its inaugural season in October next year.

According toCode Sports, R360 have offered Gray a three-year deal worth $800,000 a season.
Gray is under contract with Souths until the end of next season. It’s unclear if R360’s offer is from 2026 or 2027.
The NRL have already warned players and agents that there will be “consequences” for those who attempt to break their current NRL contracts to join the rebel league.
Gray was a huge asset for Souths this year, even keeping Latrell Mitchell out of the No. 1 jersey at times over the course of the season.

Therefore, it’s no surprise the Rabbitohs are keen to hold on to the exciting fullback, with CEO Blake Solly calling a R360 switch a “leap into the unknown”.
“His development on and off the field over the last two seasons has been exceptional,” Solly told Code Sports.
“We would love him to stay at the club long-term and continue that development to make a big contribution to our success.
“But we also understand that if the salaries being discussed in R360 are true, Jye faces a difficult decision.
“Unfortunately we have minimal information on R360, and some of the rumours are hard to believe.
“For example, the concept of the salaries being ‘tax-free’ is very speculative and there seems to be a lot of uncertainty around the competition.”
