A koala has had a lucky escape after being run over by an e-bike on the side of a road in Brisbane’s south-east.
Dashcam footage, shared on social media by charity Koala Rescue Brisbane South, showed two people riding along Nursery Road in Holland Park on e-bikes on Saturday.
The koala, seen at the bottom left of this photo, was struck by the leading rider. Today
As the pair overtook a car on the shoulder, the lead rider ran over what appears to be an animal.
The animal was later confirmed to be a koala.
The riders look back to see what they hit, but they do not stop to see if the koala needs assistance.

They also appear to kick out in the direction of the koala, but it is not clear if this is intentional or a reaction to suddenly running over the koala.
Koala Rescue said a driver travelling in the opposite direction pulled over and called the charity for help.
“Rescuers searched the street and found two koalas by the road. They couldn’t tell which one – if either – had been hit, so both were taken to the RSPCA Wildlife Hospital for a health check,” Koala Rescue said in a post on social media.

In a follow-up post, the charity confirmed both koalas had been cleared of any injuries.
The charity shared a video of the two koalas, called Valli and Barsney, being resettled in different parts of Brisbane.
Valli was seen climbing trees at the Mount Thompson Memorial Garden, which is near where the koalas were first found.
Barnsey was rehomed in bushland in Mount Gravatt in south Brisbane.
The two bike riders have not been found.
