ITV has released a first-look trailer for The Blame, its brand new drama starring Brassic’s Michelle Keegan and The Sandman’s Douglas Booth.
The six-part series, which has been written by Megan Gallagher (All Her Fault), also stars Ian Hart (Mr Bates vs The Post Office), Nathan Mensah, Nigel Boyle (Peaky Blinders), Joe Armstrong (Black Mirror) and Matilda Freeman (How to get to Heaven from Belfast).
Gavin Spokes (House of the Dragon), Josh Bolt (Masters of the Air) and Ceallach Spellman (Cheaters) are also in the cast, with many of the stars being seen in the trailer.
The trailer reveals that a 16-year-old girl, Sophie, was with a policeman when she died, and Keegan’s character DI Emma Crane believes one of her team may be responsible.

The synopsis for The Blame, which is based on the novel of the same name by Charlotte Langley, says: “As DI Emma Crane (Keegan) and DI Tom Radley (Booth) dig deeper into what starts as a tragic death that sends shockwaves through the town of Wakestead, a murder enquiry soon spirals into a tangled web of lies, institutional cover-ups and moral compromise.
“As the clock ticks and trust fractures, Crane must navigate both a murder investigation and the treacherous politics inside her own team.”
The series has been described as “part propulsive mystery, part social commentary, part love story”, which is set to “tackle big questions around policing and will take an unflinching look at who we can really trust”.
