The latest addition to Coronation Street is a deeply disturbed teenage girl whose father is in jail for murdering her mother – and she’s about to blame Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) for this terrible crime.
It all started when Tim bumped into his cousin Richie (Nathan Sussex) at the precinct last month. They caught up over a few pints on the town and ultimately reconnected. Richie had been having some marital issues with his wife Rachel, so he’d been sleeping on the sofa, and Tim was happy to let his cousin crash at his house.
Tim’s wife Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) was understandably less thrilled. She didn’t relish the prospect of having a louder, brasher, drunker version of her husband getting underfoot when the Metcalfe house was already full to the brim with foster children, and pressured Tim to make his cousin sling his hook.
With no choice, Tim helped Richie into a cab and urged him to work on his marriage with Rachel.

That night, Tim drove to Richie’s house to return his wallet… only to find Rachel dead in the kitchen and his cousin’s shirt stained with her blood. Now Tim finds himself haunted by one question: if he hadn’t encouraged Richie to go home, would Rachel still be alive?
The Metcalfes took in the Parkinsons’ daughter Lucy (Anya Dewin), who has been severely traumatised by the ordeal. Things got worse when Tim visited Richie in prison and was asked to paint Rachel as an abuser, so he could avoid prison time by claiming self-defence. When Tim refused, Richie snapped that it was his fault that Rachel died.

In tonight’s episode (Monday 24 August), Sally and Tim heard screams coming from the garden. They came outside to find Lucy accusing Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances Brown) of spying. Later, Lucy asked Tim to take her to see her mum at the undertaker’s, but panicked at the door.
Guilt-ridden, Tim came clean with Lucy about sending Richie back to Rachel that night. Furious, Lucy exploded and blamed Tim for her mum’s death.
Later, Sally and Tim found Lucy clutching her burnt hand and accusing Joanie Michaelis (Savanna Pennington) of pushing her into the pizza oven. Joanie defended herself by saying that Lucy kept making digs about her parents being in prison.
Sally ordered them inside. As Sally and Tim discussed their fostering issues, Lucy interrupted and screamed that she wanted nothing more to do with Tim. Can Tim and Sally get through to Lucy?
