A man has been was arrested after armed police flooded a Dunedin street.
The 37-year-old taken into custody hours after police initially swarmed Dovecote Ave in Corstorphine at 11.30am on Tuesday, a police spokeswoman said.
He was arrested in relation to a warrant out for his arrest and he will appear in the Dunedin District Court on Wednesday.
A witness at the scene said police were yelling “put it down right now” at someone inside a Dovecote Ave address.
Police also told the person of interest to “come outside”, but the person did not heed their calls.
The incident appeared to begin about 11.20am.
Eventually a woman, who was not the person police were looking for, left the property with a bulldog.
Multiple police cars, armed police and police dogs were at the scene.
After an hour, police set up a cordon and asked everyone to leave the area, the witness said.
