For fashion designer Binal Patel, jacquard and silk come together with an ease that keeps even the most crafted pieces from feeling overdone. She wanted that same sense of effortlessness to define The RealB’s 1,000-square-foot Delhi flagship: a space that could feel timeless without becoming nostalgic. Patel’s years in Milan and Florence had shaped her eye for the elegance of European ateliers, as well as her understanding of how vintage silhouettes could be reworked for the contemporary woman. For the store, she turned to Pranvi Jain and Dhruv DV of The Melange Studio, who brought these influences into a contemporary setting. “Drawing from Binal’s story, the design scheme expands on the idea of a modiste’s atelier, bringing together European influences with contemporary design features,” say the designers. Instead of aiming for visual balance, they embraced contrast, allowing the unexpected to keep the space intriguing.

The idea was to make the store feel less like a newly built retail space and more like an old European interior that had gradually acquired contemporary additions. Its architectural shell takes cues from the patina of such spaces, with vaulted arches and distressed walls that give the impression of age. Parquet flooring adds to the lived-in quality, while warm-grey walls temper the richness of the arches and columns. Against this backdrop, the sleek clothing racks feel almost like later interventions: clean, stainless-steel elements placed within a more traditional setting. Around the cashier, European-inspired columns and the vaulted ceiling continue the architectural language, giving the compact store a sense of depth and history.
