The Adult Mental Health Unit at Sligo University Hospital has received a negative report from the Mental Health Commission.
An inspection which took place in April revealed multiple high-risk instances of non-compliance in the unit.
The report, published today by the Mental Health Commission, found a critical-risk non-compliance, as well as seven high-risk instances of non-compliance at Sligo University Hospital’s Adult Mental Health Unit.
Overall, 12 of the 34 categories up for review were not compliant with MHC regulations, with a further five not for review.
The Code of Practice on Electro-Convulsive Therapy for Voluntary Patients was found to be a critical-risk non-compliance due to poor record-keeping at the facility.
This was also the case during the 2025 review of the hospital.
