The woman who died after a stolen vehicle collided head-on with another vehicle in Auckland’s Manurewa last week has been named by police.
She was Monique Marie Jennifer Lay, 27, of Ōtara.
Lay died at the scene of the crash on Alfriston Rd, Manurewa on the evening of August 27.
Police said the incident began following reports of an aggravated robbery on Greenmeadows Ave, where a person at the property was allegedly threatened with a crowbar and a vehicle was taken.

Superintendent Shanan Gray previously said officers approaching the area saw a vehicle being driven in the middle of the road without its headlights on.
“Inquiries later confirmed the vehicle was the one stolen from Greenmeadows Ave,” Gray said.
“Police signalled for the vehicle to stop. However, it failed to do so and took off at speed.”
At around 9.42pm, the vehicle travelled onto Alfriston Rd and collided head-on with a vehicle coming in the opposite direction.
“Officers immediately rendered first aid. However, the driver and sole occupant of the stolen vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Gray said at the time.
The occupant of the other vehicle was taken to hospital with moderate injuries.
Gray today said police extended its condolences to Lay’s loved ones “during this difficult time”.
“The critical incident investigation remains ongoing, and police are continuing to establish the full circumstances around what unfolded that evening,” he said.
