HOMESTEAD, Fla. (WKRC) – A former mental health therapist was accused of engaging in sexual activity with a client and helping him leave a restricted facility.
According to WSVN, 32-year-old Michelle Luchau-Rebora was taken into custody on Tuesday after she allegedly engaged in sexual conduct with a client under her care.
Per the report, which cites arrest documents, the suspect was working as a mental health therapist intern at an alcohol and drug treatment facility, New Hope C.O.R.P., in Homestead, Florida. Her alleged victim was identified as a 42-year-old man who was a patient and resident at the facility.
The alleged sexual relationship began in June 2025 and lasted until sometime in September, with sexual encounters allegedly occurring at the suspect’s home, Jackson Memorial Hospital and her mother’s home in Key Biscayne, Florida.
A report from WPLG states that sexual activity would also occur during therapy sessions at the facility, with the suspect further accused of helping the man get authorization to leave the facility to “engage in sexual intercourse.”
Deputies said she “demanded that he not tell anyone about their relationship because it will affect her ability to work as a therapist.” The alleged victim ultimately reported the affair to the suspect’s employer after she broke off their relationship.
She was later fired from her position, according to WPLG.
Luchau-Rebora was arrested and charged with the following, per the reports:
Psychotherapist engaging in sexual conduct with a client without authorization (felony)
The suspect surrendered to law enforcement and was released from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center after posting a $5,000 bond, WSVN reported.
New Hope Corps issued the following statement to WPLG:
“This is an unfortunate situation involving allegations concerning an individual who was serving as an intern with New Hope CORPS. Upon becoming aware of the allegations, New Hope promptly reported the matter to the appropriate authorities and agencies, terminated the individual’s internship, and fully cooperated with the subsequent investigation.”
