“We are not going to sit by and be lectured by some bunch of low IQ weasels who have no idea about history, and even less of an idea about the woke cultural madness they foolishly promote — that goes for the hopeless TikTok politicians in the Green Party spouting that crap too.
“If we are the only ones to stand up for and be proud of our country, our heritage, and our language then so be it — but if this group of try-hard performers don’t like our stance on the English language they should naff off back home.
Kneecap appeared to take the comments in their stride.
In an interview with Te Ao with Moana, group members Moglai Bap and Mo Chara were asked about Peters’ remarks.
“That’s gotta go on the poster surely,” one member responded.
“He’s invited to the party,” the other said.
The trio are coming to New Zealand for two shows at Auckland’s Spark Arena and Wellington’s TSB Arena on February 9 and 10.
The invitation comes after a turbulent year for the group, with Mo Chara, also known as Liam O’Hanna, facing a terrorism-related charge in the United Kingdom.
He was charged in May last year with displaying a flag of the banned Iran-backed Lebanese militant group Hezbollah at a November 2024 concert in London under the UK’s 2000 Terrorism Act.
But he walked free from a London court in September after Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring found a technical error in the timing of the case against him.
The Crown Prosecution Service appealed in January, arguing that Goldspring erred in ruling that the written charge had been filed too late.
A two-judge panel at the High Court then dismissed the appeal, siding with the Chief Magistrate.
