The incident reportedly took place at the premiere of Guy Pearce and Claire Foy’s new film Ink.
Fans of the actress were left confused by the video clip, with many deeming it “rude”.
“That’s crazy that they had to kick her out like that, so rude. She’s an actress, she is supposed to be there unlike all weird bloggers,” one person wrote on Instagram.
Many speculated that the awkward interaction stemmed from the festival’s tight schedule for red carpet appearances while others wondered if it was a matter of Dobrev not having paid to be photographed on there.
While many social media users agreed the moment was “embarrassing”, several defended the men ushering her off as they were “likely just doing their job” of keeping the flow on the red carpet.
“How is that rude? Her time was over and he asked her to move on,” one social media user commented.
Neither the star nor the festival has issued any comment regarding the incident.
