For more than a decade, Wright 1 Care Inc. has been helping Manitobans receive the care and support they need while remaining in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes. Now, the Winnipeg-based private home care provider is bringing its services to the southeast Manitoba community of Steinbach.

Beginning October 1, 2026, Wright 1 Care will open a new location inside Clearspring Medical Centre, located next to Winners at Clearspring Mall in Steinbach. The new location will provide local families with access to a range of private home care, nursing and support services.

For co-owners Sylvia Wright and Chris Kilpatrick, the expansion represents more than a new business location. It is an opportunity to bring a model of care they have spent years building to a community they have grown to love.

A business built from a passion for care

Sylvia Wright has worked in home care since 2012. Early in her career, one of her first clients was a man living with dementia whom she cared for twice a day for three years. The relationship she developed with him and his family led to more requests for her services, eventually reaching a point where she realized there was an opportunity to build a larger organization that could provide the same level of personalized care to more people.

That vision became Wright 1 Care Inc., established in 2013.

Today, the company provides private home care and nursing services to individuals and families, as well as clients in assisted living and personal care homes, hospitals and other settings. The company has grown to more than 100 employees serving clients throughout Winnipeg.

The philosophy behind Wright 1 Care remains straightforward: care should be built around the individual, with an emphasis on dignity, independence, respect, compassion and continuity of care.

The company describes its mission as making “our time your time,” with the goal of providing comfort, safety and peace of mind to clients and their families. Experience that goes beyond the workplace both Wright and Kilpatrick bring personal experience with caregiving to their work.

Kilpatrick became a primary caregiver for his parents, including his mother who lived with dementia. That experience gave him a firsthand understanding of the emotional, financial and practical challenges families can face when a loved one requires ongoing care.

His connection to caregiving also has roots in his family. Inspired by his mother’s volunteer work and his sister’s involvement with the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities, Kilpatrick eventually left his career as a machinist to dedicate himself to community service and caregiving.

He volunteered with the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities and later spent years using his machining skills to repair wheelchairs while travelling to communities throughout Northern Manitoba.

Wright also experienced caregiving within her own family, caring for her husband at home while continuing to operate her business. Through those experiences, both owners have seen firsthand what families go through when someone they love needs additional support.

Those experiences have shaped the way they approach their work today.

“We understand a lot about what our clients are going through,” Wright says.

That understanding is at the heart of Wright 1 Care approach: providing professional services while recognizing that every client and every family have different needs. Comprehensive care, available 24/7 Wright 1 Care provides a range of services designed to support people with different levels of care needs.

Its team includes Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses, who can provide skilled nursing support, including senior care and palliative care in the home or hospital.

Health Care Aides can assist clients with personal care and activities of daily living, as well as meal preparation, laundry, light housekeeping and medication reminders.

Home Support Workers can help with household tasks such as light housekeeping, meal preparation, laundry, shopping and errands, as well as accompanying clients to appointments.

The company also provides companionship services, whether someone needs company at home, in hospital, while travelling, at the cottage or while attending a special event. Companions can also assist with activities such as preparing snacks, reading, puzzles and medication reminders.

The services are available 24/7, giving families greater flexibility when arranging care for a loved one.

Bringing Wright 1 Care to Steinbach

The decision to expand into Steinbach comes from both a business opportunity and a strong connection to the community.

Wright and Kilpatrick have developed a deep appreciation for Steinbach and the people who live there. For them, the community has a strong sense of connection and care that aligns closely with the values of Wright 1 Care.

The new Steinbach location inside Clearspring Medical Centre will make it easier for individuals and families in the southeast region to learn about and access private home care services close to home.

The company has already begun building its presence in the community, including recruiting home support workers and health care aides, in Steinbach.

For Wright and Kilpatrick, the expansion is also the beginning of a longer-term commitment to the area, “We’re very excited to come to the community and to help out,” the co-owners say.

Looking ahead

After more than a decade of serving families in Winnipeg, Wright 1 Care is entering its next chapter with the opening of its Steinbach location.

The goal remains the same: to provide reliable, compassionate and professional care that helps people maintain their dignity, independence and quality of life while giving families greater peace of mind.

Whether a client requires skilled nursing, personal care, help around the home or simply companionship, Wright 1 Care works with individuals and families to find care solutions that meet their specific needs.

Wright 1 Care Inc. will be located inside Clearspring Medical Centre at Clearspring Mall in Steinbach beginning October 1, 2026.
