Armed police searched Arran Rd in Browns Bay after an earlier fight in Birkenhead where a firearm was allegedly pulled.
An Arran Rd resident told the Herald he was driving home at about 5.30pm when he found the street blocked by armed police.
The Eagle helicopter circled overhead, both entrances to the road were closed, and residents were told they could not enter.
“One police officer at the roundabout took out his gun and walked down Arran Road,” the resident said.
The resident said up to seven police cars had been on the road, though they had since left.
Police confirmed to the Herald that the activity in Browns Bay was connected to the earlier Birkenhead incident.
