Prince Harry has broken his silence on his family’s return to the UK, as he and wife Meghan Markle hunt for a multimillion-dollar estate.

Speaking at the Spirit Awards at the Old Royal Naval College, the Duke of Sussex described the family’s past few weeks back on British soil as “eventful”.

“My highlight so far? Oh, I don’t know. Would I dare share it with you?” Harry joked to Hello!

“It’s been eventful, but, you know, we’re getting stuck into the work. Kids are in school. We’re happy.”

The couple arrived in the UK on August 26 with Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, just a week after confirming plans to leave their $US14.65m ($A22m) Montecito mansion in California.

Sources indicate the Sussexes are now eyeing a country estate in the Cotswolds worth up to $US16.2m ($A24.5m).

The move marks their first semi-permanent return to Britain since being forced to surrender Frogmore Cottage in Windsor in 2023.

However, the house hunt comes with strict demands.

Markle, 45, is reportedly seeking a residence that mirrors their sprawling nine-bedroom California home, complete with space for a private filming studio as she prepares a return to acting.

Harry, 42, is prioritising extreme privacy, searching for a massive landholding with “no footpaths going across it”.

While the hunt continues, the family is staying in a spare room at a friend’s mansion in the Cotswolds.

Despite establishing a new base in Britain, the couple has no plans to sell their Montecito compound and intends to travel back regularly to visit Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland.

King Charles was informed of the move on August 16 and is said to be excited to see more of his grandchildren in a private capacity.

There is no indication the move signals a return to official royal duties, with sources confirming the couple will remain private citizens.
