LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The Las Vegas Museum of Art (LVMA) is launching a new standalone exhibition gallery downtown.

Mayor Shelley Berkley and other dignitaries came together Monday for a preview of LVMA: Grand Central Galleries in Symphony Park.

The 15,000-square-foot space, scheduled to open in April next year, will present a schedule of exhibitions and programs as crews work on building the nearby flagship museum building.

The debut exhibition is “A Shared Light: Monet, Impressionism, and the American Landscape,” featuring nearly 60 works by artists tracing the impact of Claude Monet. The program is organized in collaboration with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).

“This milestone for LVMA: Grand Central Galleries testifies to our mission of bringing unparalleled art and programs to the Las Vegas public,” LVMA executive director Heather Harmon said.

Organizers say that LVMA: Grand Central Galleries is a permanent second space operating after the grand opening of the museum, which is expected in 2029.

Fundraising for the museum is already over halfway to the $200 million campaign goal.
