Elaine said: “I’m incredibly honoured to be recognised in this way, but this nomination also reflects the commitment of the whole MindMosaic team and the communities we work alongside.
“Our approach has always been about meeting people where they are, rather than expecting them to fit into a service.
“We believe it is not about asking ‘what is wrong with you?’ but understanding ‘what has happened to you?’.
“When people are met with compassion, safety and the right support, they can begin to heal.
“Adversity can shape our lives, but it does not have to define our future.”
MindMosaic, which is based in Inverclyde, has supported more than 1,000 people in the past year.
The charity works with schools, families, community groups and statutory services to help those affected by trauma, poverty, domestic abuse, isolation and lengthy waits for NHS mental health care.
MindMosaic offers a flexible, client-centred approach that includes online counselling, outreach, and therapy at community venues.
It also provides EMDR, structured psychotherapy and group sessions.
The charity works to remove barriers such as cost, transport and digital exclusion.
Results from clients reflect the impact of this approach.
Ninety-two per cent reported improved emotional wellbeing, and 87 per cent showed measurable progress in trauma recovery.
These outcomes translate to people feeling safer, more stable, and better able to participate in family, work and community life.
A key part of MindMosaic’s model is involving clients in shaping the service.
Feedback from those with lived experience has led to the introduction of online counselling and more community-based delivery.
The BACP President’s Award will be presented at the BACP President’s Awards ceremony in London on October 10.
