Tom Trbojevic has revealed his Kangaroos call up caught him by surprise as the Manly skipper prepares for his first appearance for Australia in nearly two years.
Trbojevic was named in Kevin Walters’ World Cup squad of 23 and gives the Kangaroos coach a bit of versatility in the backline as he can play fullback, wing or centre.

The 30-year-old could be in line for a start on the flank against the Kiwis next Thursday night in the World Cup opener given Clive Churchill Medal winner James Tedesco is set to be a lock for the No. 1 jersey.
Regardless of where he plays, Trbojevic is just happy to be back in the picture.
Once again, injuries caused havoc this season which Trbojevic labelled “frustrating” as he played in only 14 games but the star fullback did finish the year strong for Manly.
“I didn’t play a lot of footy this year, which was disappointing,” Trbojevic told CODE Sports.
“I felt like I could finish these last few games strong, which would bring potential. But I still didn’t really expect it.
“It’s tough for Manly as well. It’s tough to sit on the sideline when you’re not playing footy, so yeah, ‘frustrating’ is a good word.
“It is disappointing, but it’s a game and it’s been my journey so far.”
Trbojevic has played just three Test for Australia in six years.

Trbojevic, who has had a horror run of hamstring injuries, admits overcoming the mental hurdle when he hits the field is a challenge.
“There’s always uncertainty, but I wouldn’t say fear. You work really hard in the rehab process to eliminate it,” he said.
Foxsports.com.aubelieves Trbojevic will be named on the wing for next Thursday’s blockbuster at Allianz Stadium with Tedesco at fullback and Latrell Mitchell/Bradman Best the centre combination.
