By all indications, Paul McCartney showed up to his recording of Good Hang With Amy Poehler with some shit to get off his chest. Most notably, the legendary musician used the platform to gripe about how the actors who play him in biopics are not tall enough (shots fired, Paul Mescal) to capture his impressive stature. But elsewhere, he took a moment to sound off on the quality of modern pop music, much of which, he says, is too “banal” for his tastes. In the episode, which premiered October 13, McCartney waved off a question about whether there’s any contemporary music he wishes he could have written by launching into an impromptu song-and-dance number featuring nonsensical lyrics like “I want your ooh ooh” and some goofy choreography he believes could easily be a hit today. Poehler laughs along gamely before shutting him up by gently pushing back with, “This from the man who gave us, ‘She loves you. Yeah, yeah, yeah.’”

The clip has since gone viral online, with people creating irritatingly catchy remixes of McCartney’s improvised bop, joking that McCartney was specifically mocking the K-pop group STAYC, and debating whether the singer’s impression is accurate or reductive. If any pop artist or fandom is offended by this, however, they should probably take the opportunity to view this as an if-the-shoe-fits situation and stop voluntarily positioning themselves in front of this bullet. Meanwhile, if anyone from Paul McCartney’s team happens to be reading this, please play him some Tinashe to broaden his horizons.
