Meghan Markle’s public engagements in the United Kingdom will be few and far between as the royal focuses on her family, her lifestyle brand and her return to acting.
An insider told The Telegraph this week that the Duchess of Sussex, 45, has “different professional priorities” to her husband Prince Harry, 42, as they settle into their new life in the United Kingdom.
“Prince Harry’s priority is his philanthropic work and public service. Her focus is on her family and children, followed by her business, followed by rebooting her acting career,” the well-placed source told the publication.
“Her public appearances will be relatively rare. She is reading a lot of scripts at the moment.”
News of Meghan’s return to the screen was similarly echoed by her former talent agent Ari Emanuel, who told TV host Megyn Kelly he was glad Meghan, 45, was establishing her own path after touching down on British soil.
“She is finding her voice, I’m happy for her…” the WME Executive Chairman shared.
Meghan has hardly appeared on the screen since playing Rachel Zane in the hit legal drama series Suits, with the show’s final season airing in 2019.

She has featured in a number of non-fiction projects, including the 2022 docuseries Harry & Meghan and her lifestyle series With Love, Meghan, which are both on Netflix.
Rumours swirled earlier this year that the Duchess was making her grand return to acting in the hit series The Gentlemen.
At the time, it was reported the mum-of-two was in advanced talks to appear in the third season of Guy Ritchie’s hit series, and that the role was worth at least £1 million (AUS $2 million), according to sources cited by The Sun on Sunday.
However, former magazine editor Tina Brown later claimed that the casting plan was abandoned due to the intense public reaction to Meghan joining the show.
“I learned this morning that the casting of Meghan Markle in season three of Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series The Gentlemen has been withdrawn. The backlash in the UK was so intense, it became untenable to go forward,” Brown wrote at the time.
Despite the insider emphasising that Meghan’s public engagements would be “relatively rare”, the Duchess and her husband enjoyed their first official joint appearance since making the transatlantic move this week.
The couple received a warm welcome in Nottingham on Thursday, with crowds gathering to cheer the couple as they embarked on a series of charity visits to the Community Recording Studio (CRS), Himmah and Epic Partners, a youth charity they previously visited during their first official public appearance as a couple in November 2017.
