The pair appeared together on BBC One’s The Graham Norton Show, where Mr Tarantino questioned why he had never been invited onto Ms DeGeneres’s long-running US chat show.
The exchange was described as an “awkward moment” by The Independent, after fellow guest Colin Farrell discussed his numerous appearances on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Host Graham Norton then asked the Pulp Fiction director whether he had ever appeared on the programme.

Mr Tarantino replied: “I was never asked.”
Ms DeGeneres responded: “I don’t know why that is.”
Mr Tarantino clarified that he “didn’t mean it like that”, before adding that he had “always been kind of hoping to be on your show”.
Ms DeGeneres explained that talk show producers were responsible for bringing potential guests to hosts and said she did not know why Mr Tarantino had not appeared.
She added: “Well, I’m so glad we’re meeting now. I don’t know why you wouldn’t have been. Let’s look into this. Now I’m angry.”

She said: “I miss a lot about it, I miss laughing every single day with the writers, I miss the guests, I miss kissing Colin, I miss a lot of it. I think about doing something here.”
