Tate McRae embraces a more measured, auteur-driven presentation for the rollout of her fourth studio album. “Housewife.”

Tate McRae’s “Housewife” opened at No. 1 on both Billboard global song charts while entering the U.S. Hot 100 at No. 2. That difference does not mean the single struggled in America: it also debuted atop Streaming Songs, giving McRae a streaming leader alongside a new Hot 100 high as a lead artist.
As MusicTimes previously reported, the song collected 55.9 million worldwide streams and 6,000 sales during the Oct. 16–22 tracking period. It became her second No. 1 on both the Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. rankings, following “Greedy.” Those are distinct measurements: the Global 200 includes American consumption, while Global Excl. U.S. leaves it out.
Its U.S. launch included 22.9 million chart-eligible streams. The Streaming Songs debut was McRae’s first No. 1 as a lead act and second overall, following her featured appearance on Morgan Wallen’s “What I Want.” On the Hot 100, “Housewife” surpassed the No. 3 peaks of “Greedy” and “Tit for Tat.”
The Hot 100 combines streaming, sales and radio activity, so leading a streaming ranking does not automatically produce the same position on the overall chart. The global lists also measure a different geographic market. Comparing the rankings can describe the reach of a release; it cannot, by itself, establish which individual factor prevented a U.S. No. 1.
The single arrived through RCA Records with a video directed by Pierre-Ange Carlotti. Sony Music Canada’s Oct. 16 release announcement identifies the south of France as the filming location and Sergio Reis as its choreographer. The label describes the song as exploring independence, love and fame.
That release follows McRae’s third studio album, “So Close to What,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Her preceding album, 2023’s “Think Later,” entered at No. 4 and included “Greedy,” connecting the new single’s international start to an earlier global chart leader.
The result gives “Housewife” a different place in each part of McRae’s chart history: a second global leader, a first Streaming Songs No. 1 as a lead act and a new Hot 100 peak in that role. Each distinction describes a different part of the single’s launch.
